  Rehabilitation

We have spent a lot of money and time on our Rehabilitation Department and have much success with the machines that we utilize here in our center in getting our patients back to work faster and healthier. The majority of these machines are very unique and cannot be purchased in any retail store. They are specifically designed for spinal and extremity injuries such as Carpal Tunnel Syndrome. These machines coupled with Physical Therapy and CMT allows the patient not only to get well, but to be able to be back at work and not to worry about further re-injury. Please see the below photos for your further review.

CTS or Carpal Tunnel Machine

CTS or Carpal Tunnel Machine is specifically made for Patients suffering from Carpal Tunnel Syndrome or wrist and hand numbness and pain secondary to cumulative stress or trauma to the Median Nerve and/or the wrist in general. This machine has proven successful in over 50% of our patients keeping them from getting surgery and further, removing altogether or reducing the patients symptomatology. Pre and Post NCV studies have proven to us that this is the case when we analyze the findings and see a reduction of the Motor and Sensory Nerve Distal Latency Velocity delays whereby the stimulation to the Median and/or the Ulnar Nerve is literally improved over 50%. This machine is a must for work injuries whereby the employee is suffering from early symptoms. The earlier the patient gets into proper treatment measures, the faster and better the results. If the patient is denied their right to this care, or go to a Physician who is lacking knowledge of this machine and the effects of work conditioning properly presented to the patient, they will ultimately be surgical candidates and have a very large scar on their wrist. Further, the surgery often does not help. CMT or Chiropractic is a must incorporated with this because often, the patient is misdiagnosed and the problem is not the distal Median Nerve, but actually is coming from higher up either in the Brachial Plexus, or the Cervical Spine. The patient is diagnosed with CTS and receives the surgery only to find, their symptoms return. Cervical Manipulation coupled with appropriate Physical Therapy and Rehab to both the wrist AND the Cervical Spine is the proper and only way to treat the patient, even if they do not have symptomatology in the Cervical spine. Deep Myofascial Release to the wrist flexor muscles is also key and stimulation to the Median Nerve and finally, instructing the patient of NOT compressing the Median Nerve on the table while doing computer work or other.

The wrist/ hand and forearm are a complex pattern of movements. Our CTS machine as shown above can rehabilitate all the specific yet very different movements of the wrist such as Flexion movement for flexor tendonopathies of the wrist, Carpal Tunnel Syndrome and Medial Epicondylar rehabilitation for the elbow; Extensor movement for tennis elbow, CTS and overall wrist strengthening; Radial flexion and extension movements similar to hammer curls but with isolation in wrist movement only; Supination and Pronation movements of the forearm and wrist. All these different movements of the wrist and forearm bring increased blood supply to the wrist, hand and forearm and strengthen the overall forearm allowing it to heal and with over time, decrease symptoms of the patient.

Generally speaking, the patient should see results in 6-8 weeks with immediate increase in their discomfort, but then a steady and gradual decrease in their signs and symptoms. Again, this rehabilitation must be coupled with CMT to the extremity and the Brachial Plexus of the side of the involvement for most optimum results along with simple Physio-Therapeutic adjuncts. If after 8 weeks there is absolutely no improvement, then the patient generally speaking is a surgical candidate. But understand too that the previous rehabilitation if does not work, means that the surgery absolutely should work since we now know that the rehabilitation and the CMT with other therapeutic adjuncts failed. But sometimes it could take up to 6 months before someone is completely rehabilitated. As long as there is progress, the patient should emotionally and physically heal from this. Let us show you how we do it!
