Digital Motion Fluoroscopy

We further have a State-Of-The-Art Digital Fluoroscopy Unit which will enable us to further our ability to properly diagnose Ligamentous instability in the spine. This is normally caused by trauma due to a fall, car accident – numerous injuries that can relate to a torn or partially torn ligament in the spine, neck or extremity. These findings are often missed in MRI or CT scanning when the patient continues to exhibit discomfort, referred pain or serious neurological changes yet all “medically accepted” studies show normal findings.

The Digital Fluoroscopic Unit X-Rays the body part under a series of three specific movements enabling the radiologist to see the normal or abnormal boney movement from disrupted ligaments or partially disrupted. (i.e.. a transverse ligament disruption at the atlas axis level high in the cervical spine that is commonly damaged through whiplash. If this ligament is torn, the entire upper spinal cord can be pinched by C1, or the Atlas which could paralyze the patient. Symptoms of the patient may be just shooting pains down their arms and legs upon slight flexion of their neck). Would this show up in MRI or CT scan? Most likely not, and that is why X-Ray and Digital Fluoroscopy is clearly the choice to properly diagnose ligamentous injuries of the patient.
